Archive for February, 2009
As mentioned in my previous post Honda sent a letter to their dealers asking them to remove from stock, showroom floors and their websites all ATV’s and motorcycles intended for the use of kids 12 and younger.
National media is finally catching on to the fight that many small and large businesses have been battling ever since the law was passed last August. Since the law includes ALL children’s products and is retroactive to current stock, Honda’s not taking any chances and has requested their dealers to removed those items for use by children 12 and younger.

CPSIA Update February 4, 2009
CNN website reports January 30, 2009 – Libraries in suspense over lead regulations
Finally a major news source is starting to realize how the CPSIA will impact everyone! Although the CPSC has issued a Stay of enforcement , it’s implementation is still a go come February 10, 2009. If you sell ANYTHING for for children 12 and younger, or even like buying stuff for kids 12 and younger and want to continue to do so… then call your Senator’s Washington office today (as instructed by DeMint) and have them co-sponsor Senator DeMint’s CPSIA legislative reform that will be presented this week!
Kids motorcycles to library books and everything in between will be banned as a hazardous good if the CPSIA comes to pass.
Call Today! Time is running out. February 10, 2009 is almost here! Who is your Senator? Click Here to find out.
I’m not going to go into the details of what the CPSIA is all about.
You can read it in my previous posts as I’ve been blogging about it for awhile now.
But if you’re in business or just a consumer who loves to buy ANYTHING for kids 12 and under then you better read up!!! The CPSIA is a very vague, poorly written, misunderstood law created in August 2008 and about to come full force February 10, 2009. A law written to help protect kids 12 and under from lead in ANY and ALL products intended for their use. Yes all …including motorcycles and ATV’s intended for the use of kids. When was the last time you saw a kid eating their motorcycle or ATV? Dirt maybe…but not their bike. And I bet they’d find more lead in that dirt than what they would find on their bike!
The Consumer Product Safety Commission put a STAY of enforcement on the law
Friday, January 30, 2009, which basically gives the Commission time to sort out all the complaints brought up about the law, but it’s still expected to be implementated. Honda isn’t taking any chances despite what the CPSIA STAY says and has issued a letter to its dealers to NOT sell any motorcycle or ATV’s for kids 12 and younger after February 9, 2009 unless a drastic change to the law, is made by the CPSC before the law goes into effect February 10, 2009.
So…if you want a new or used TRX 90, CRF 50F, CRF 70F or CRF 80F model this year…you better get it before February 10th. In fact you might just find some really good deals right now too! Cause after February 10th, dealers can’t even leave them on the showroom floor!
